A day on the water
Well, I haven't gone wakeboarding that much so far this season. I've been doing a lot of fun summer activities with my daughter and wife, working a lot, doing some house projects, etc. So basically, I just haven't been riding much at all, and hadn't rode in a few weeks.
I went out on the 4th of July bright and early, and really had a great time. It's always fun to see what new stuff my riding buddies have learned, the weather was nice, and the water was smooth. You can't ask for much better.
My riding is terrible since I've rode so little, and I just feel uncomfortable doing most tricks, even ones I've been doing consistently for years. So, I really wasn't all that excited to ride until I got out on the water. Of course, I still managed to fall on most every trick I tried, and I was struggling just to do clean grabs while not feeling like an idiot. Anyway, towards the end of my ride I managed to land a very clean Roll to Blind, which is one of the harder tricks I've ever done. That amazing rush of landing something difficult clean hit me again, and I realized I hadn't felt or thought about that feeling for a long time.
It was great to feel that rush once again, and I'm totally confused how I can struggle with easy stuff but do something difficult without much effort. It really makes no sense, but what about wakeboarding really does anyway?
Hope you had a good 4th of July holiday, I sure did.

Impressive
How about Shaun Murray? He breaks his leg a couple of months ago in a gruesome slider accident, and he finished 2nd at the Portland Pro Stop this weekend. It's hard enough to finish 2nd, but he hasn't even been back on the water very long. Color me impressed.
