The Wrapped KGB is a newer trick to the sport which came about with the invention of
the wrap handle. It's a wrapped back roll with a backside 360.
Prerequisties
Before trying the Wrapped KGB you should be able to do the following things:
1. Back Roll
2. Wrapped Backside 360
3. Have a wrap handle
4. It's also helpful to try learning this trick off the double-up.
Performing the trick
Watch this trick as an animated image
(259k) or
as an AVI movie (472k).
Cut outside of the wake about 10-15 feet while wrapped up in the wrap handle so that it will unwrap you
in a blind or backside direction. Wind yourself up tightly and edge hard in against the rope for balance.
Pop off the wake like you do for a backroll, but start to spin
immediately in the backside direction. This will make you
do a "mexican roll" which is when you do a backroll like a heelside front roll. Pull against the wrap handle hard
to help you initiate the rotation and get a bit of slack in the rope.
When you're vertical release the wrapped handle to allow yourself to completely unwrap. At this
point you should begin looking for the water to spot your landing.
Begin to pull the handle back into the center of your body as you finish the flip and look for the landing.
Finish pulling the handle into the center of your body as you bend your knees and prepare for impact.
