Manufacturer's Description:
In the last three years Scott Bouchard and I have designed eight different shapes with Hyperlite. The designs we've come up with have helped create the idea for the Premier series and the Parks series, plus boards from some of the other guys. We know what works, and we're always trying to come up with the freshest ideas.
I didn't want to change my shape for this year because my line of boards does everything I was looking for. My board gets so much traction from the deep molded-in outer fins, cupped rails, and the two-tier rail. A Byerly board has a lot of grip, but it still releases quickly off the wake because the center fin is only 1.2" deep. My pro model still has the "Byerly pop", explosive, abrupt, whatever you want to call it - it suits my style. It also lands a lot softer with the center beam in the middle.
-- Scott Byerly
Byerly Features:
2.8" 3-Stage Rocker - a bucking pop off the wake for an explosive wake to wake style.
Two Tier Rail - the board doesn't sit quite as deep on the water as a step down rail but has just as much edge hold.
Deep Center Beam - super smooth landings even with a 3-stage kick.
Two 1.2" P-Wing Machined Aluminum Fins - designed for a quick release and a moderate feel.
Four 1.0" Deep Molded-In Fins - Hyperlite's thinnest and deepest molded-in fins for a knees bent style of riding that relies more on the outer fin.
Deep Cupped Rails - a more responsive grip into a rail-ride turn.
Vented Channels - less friction on the water when on rail for a faster feel.
Jib Base - a stronger material with a more controlled feel for riders looking to get their jib on.
Butch Innovation - Scott Bouchard and Byerly continue to push the limits of progressive wakeboard shapes.

Pros:
Great pop, soft landings
Cons:
A bit wild for beginning riders

The Byerly 142 DNA is better suited for bigger riders who want that abrupt 3-stage prop. This is the same successful shape as last year that can be used with just it's molded fins, or with an optional middle fin.
Without the middle fin it has a looser ride but still holds well when edging. When I rode it with the middle fin, I thought it gripped the water too well for my personal tastes. The bottom graphic is also outstanding.

Pros:
Killer pop. light. responsive.
Cons:
Dings too easy. inconsistent pop.
Killer pop. (must be advanced with a consistent progressive edge) Great for heavier, bigger dewds. The DNA is lively, light and responsive (worth the money - I will never ride foam again) - (but it will dent easy - don't take on sliders - use old foam board for sliders). Ride it finless and it's loose when you want it to be. Breaks away easy without fins (with fins feels too locked in - I even ride chop without fins) and the recovery on landings is forgiving without fins (- fins + speed). NO FINS = SPEED. Also, with the fins the board grips the wake and slows you down a little when you hit the wake. Sooper soft landings. Spins nice. My board of the year. Makes air effortless. $290 blem boards www.grizzly-sports.com

Pros:

Great pop, soft, forgiving landings
Cons:

tracks a little too tight for my taste even with the middle fin removed
It tracks really tight. A like a looser feel personally. IMO it tracks tighter with only two fins (middles removed)then the Belmont 141 with all fins. Its very responsive and has a nice pop and great landings. I noticed and appreciated the reduced weight immediatly. Nice graphics.

Pros:

pops like hell, awesome graphics
Cons:
slow due to the rocker
IMO, this is the best board ever. I rode the '02 biolite and also the '03 DNA. I got rid of mine and regret it. The '04/'05 shape isn't nearly as good. If you can still find one of these, get it. you won't be disappointed.
