Slingshot Sports expands the Wakeboarding and SUP sales team
Hood River, OR – July 20, 2012 – Slingshot Sports is pleased to announce the addition of Jason Hammons and Brian Douglass to the North American Slingshot Sales Team. Jason and Brian are dedicated East Coast and West Coast Sales Representatives for the Wakeboarding and Stand Up Paddleboarding product categories.
Jason Hammons is an avid Wake and Standup Paddle Boarder with eight+ years of experience in the marine industry and 3 years as an independent sales representative for Slingshot Sports. Jason will focus his efforts on the entire East Coast and will be based out of Cookeville, TN. “I am extremely stoked to be hired as an employee, and develop my career, with a company that is dedicated to building the most innovative and highest quality Watersports products in the world”, said Jason.
Brian Douglass is an avid Kite, Wake and Standup Paddle Boarder who has proven himself during the past 2 years in our customer service and warranty department. Brian will focus his efforts on the West Coast/Latin America and will work out of our Headquarters in Hood River, OR. “I’ve worked hard the past 2 years learning the business and developing relationships with all of our customers around the world. I’m excited for this new opportunity and looking forward to helping our partners grow sales in the West Coast and Latin America”, said Brian.

Eric Rienstra is a pro kiteboarder currently signed for slingshot. In January 2012 he traveled to Nitro City in Panama to shoot a couple of webclips for Slingshot. In March, Eric decide to take a month long trip to Nitro City to polish up for the 2012 Triple S Invitational. The trip paid off, Eric topped the podium four times as well, including Best Session and 3rd in Sliders.

Canada’s Hottest Beach Festival – Center of Gravity
Over 150 Pro Athletes Competing in Seven Different Sports
Kelowna, BC (June 21, 2012) – Canada’s Hottest Beach Festival, Center of Gravity, returns to the sandy beaches of Kelowna’s City Park this August long weekend (Aug 3-5, 2012). The festival combines some of the hottest names in electronic dance music, dance, and hip-hop with over 150 pro athletes competing in 7 different sports: beach volleyball, freestyle mountain biking, FMX, wakeboarding, skateboarding, BMX, and basketball. With expected attendance of over 28,000 fans Center of Gravity continues to provide unprecedented exposure to the athletes and their extreme sports.
The athlete lineup will include past World and Canadian champions competing in the:
• Dirt Zone: an intense mix of adrenaline and technique – Kelowna native Steve Romaniuk and 10 world class riders will tear up the Freestyle Mountain Biking course: a 30’ start ramp, big drops, jumps and dirt landings. Reagan Sieg and his crew, Jeff Fehr and Kris Foster, will host the high flying FMX shows.
• Water Zone: features a wakeboard winch jam where world-class wakeboarders and wakeskaters compete on Center of Gravity’s most technical course yet. Riders will perform on a winch park built on Hot Sands Beach with massive rails, jumps and pools. Feature riders Kevin Henshaw, Tanner Champion, and Dustin O’Ferrall will lead the grinds, tricks and flips.
• Hot Sands Beach: home to men’s and women’s Bud Light Lime Pro Beach Volleyball tournaments, where spectators will enjoy intense matches as athletes compete for the $11,500 prize pool. Fresh from their 9th place finish at the FIVB Korea Challenger, partners Kristina Valjas and Jamie Broder are ready to get in on the action at Center of Gravity. On the men’s side defending champs Maverick Hatch and Sam Schachter are back looking for a repeat win.
• Hoop Zone: home of the 4 on 4, full court competition! Coquitlam’s Drew Slaught will break from his summer AIA USA Pro Tour to challenge the likes of Vancouver’s Scott Morrison who powers the basketball court for Poland Czarni Slupsk (TBL). Clayton Crellin (Grayson County College Texas), will also be one to watch throwing down massive dunks in the Slam Dunk competition.
• Urban Zone: brings street cred to Center of Gravity. Skateboarders and BMX riders such as JABCR3W members Matt Jensen and Paul Jensen compete in the Jubilee Bowl of City Park, DJs spin hip-hop and urban beats, with shows from B-Boys and other dancer crews.
“Many of the sports we feature do not normally get these kinds of crowds, but the combination of music and sports feed off each other. Wet Ape has made Center of Gravity a must-attend for music or sports fan in Western Canada,” explains Scott Emslie, Wet Ape Productions founder. “This year is going to be our biggest yet; from a 30’ ramp for freestyle mountain bikers to the massive rails on the winch jam, we’ve built our courses so that fans can be right in the action as they watch top athletes compete.”

If your looking for something to do on Saturday July 21st, the 3rd annual board contest is gonna be held in Kennewick down by Bateman’s Island. Put on by theTri City Riders group this event attracts riders from all over the northwest and this year thanks to their main sponsor Desert Valley Powersports there is a $1000 prize for the Open Class. Prizes for all the other divisions will be awarded to the top 3 competitors. There is a beginners devision, women’s division, intermediate, advanced and finally the open class. Registration is that day starting at 8:30a so get there early and make sure you’re ready to ride. Competition will start around 10am. Plenty of viewing areas for everyone but I would get there early to make sure you plot out the perfect spot catch all the high flying action. Wake the Desert hosted by the Tri City Riders and is supported by many local businesses such as Desert Valley Powersports, Gamache Landscaping, Sundown Sport and Marine, Sporthaus Northwest, Traffic Jams and NW Riders. They also have some great help from national sponsors Oakley, Rockstar Energy Drink, and Go-Pro who have donated prizes for all the classes.
