Orlando, Fla.— The long-awaited live finals of the Tigé MyWake Global Challenge will bring the world’s best wakeboarders, wakeskaters and wakesurfers to Orlandoon Sept. 10-11 in the first-ever three discipline invitational competition. Qualifying for the revolutionary contest by submitting their best ever two minute run to http://mywake.tige.com/ between May 1 – July 31, the sports’ premiere athletes will try to duplicate their “dream runs” to earn cash prizes during the finale at Buena Vista Watersports.

 

Wakeboarding’s biggest stars, including Harley Clifford, Rusty Malinoski and Daniel Powers will be competing in the event which is free and open to the public. Top wakeskaters and wakesurfers will be participating as well, includingDieter HumpschandChase Hazen.

 

“The formula for the Tigé MyWake Global Challenge was simple, film your best run and post it online,” said, Tigé Director of Marketing, Daniel Gutierrez. “The response from the athletes was incredible, we received a ton of remarkable submissions and over 300 entrants. Wake fans will be in for some excitement in the final showdown of some of wake’s top athletes in all disciplines.”

 

Recognizing the game-changing format of the MyWake Global Challenge, PCM Engines upped the ante of the contest and doubled all Tigé prize money for the monthly winners. With the matched money from PCM Engines, overall prizes for the online and live portions of the contest are more than $35,000.

Pleasant Prairie, WI. — Perfect weather and riding conditions greeted a collection of the world’s top wakeboarders for day two of the Rockstar WWA Wakeboarding World Championships Presented by Supra. Highlighting the action-packed day was the Junior Pro Men who gave fans a glimpse of the sport’s bright future with a remarkable display of progressive riding.

 

Keeping his 2012 hot streak alive, Mike Dowdy showed up at World’s with his A-game producing a run the featured massive airs and precise rail-riding to post a heat-high score of 97.25. 2012 WWA National Champion, Noah Flegel also gave a crowd-pleasing performance with stylish riding and technically-sound maneuvers posting a score of 95.75 to advance to tomorrow’s semifinals.

 

“The riders have been going absolutely huge off the wake from Supra’s new SA 550 towboat, giving us two great days of competition so far” said competition director Chris Bischoff. “With a top-tier wakethe pro men and pro women hitting the water tomorrow, we have a lot more incredible wakeboarding to come.”

 

Multiple divisions also decided their 2h012 World Champions today on Lake Andrea. Among the most competitive divisions that completed finals today were the Junior Men, who saw an impressive run from Cory Teunissen to claim victory and Mens II, which was won by Tom Pazerunas.

 

The Rockstar WWA Wakeboarding World Championships presented by Supra will continue through Sunday, Aug. 19 Saturday and Sunday will remain a ticketed event. Tickets are available at the gate: $13 (adult); $5 (ages 6-12); free (ages 5 and under); or $7 (adult) if purchased online.

 

Following Sunday’s finals fans can enjoy the Sony Big Air Contest. Featuring the top Pro Men riders, the athletes perform massive tricks that are rarely attempted in a traditional contest setting.

World’s Best Wakeboarders and Wakeskaters Kickoff Rockstar WWA World Championships Presented By Supra

Pleasant Prairie, WI. – More than 200 of the world’s top wakeboarders and wakeskaters converged on Prairie Springs Park today for one of the sport’s most prestigious competitions: the Rockstar WWA World Championships presented by Supra. With global bragging rights and world titles at stake, fans were treated to a progressive display of wake riding during day one of the four day event.

Utilizing the super charged engine of Supra’s SA 550, the official towboat of World’s, riders in 10 different divisions kicked off competition against a global field of the sport’s elite. Among the most competitive divisions during opening day at World’s was the Junior Men. The highly-competitive heats were highlighted by the performance of Cory Teunissen, who showcased a well-rounded arsenal of aerials and technical rail maneuvers to post a heat-high score of 90.00.

“World’s is always such an amazing event with the sport’s top talent coming in to represent their country,” said Chris Bischoff, competition director. “Pleasant Prairie is a great venue for an event of this magnitude and the fans are in for a treat with the talent on hand this year.”

Fans were also privy to some excellent riding from the women today too. The Junior Women division commenced their battle for a world title with a paramount performance from Larisa Morales, who posted a division-high score of 75.00 to claim the position as favorite for tomorrow’s finals.

The Rockstar WWA World Championships presented by Supra will continue through Sunday, Aug. 19 Tomorrow’s free event will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday will remain a ticketed event. Orlando, Fla. — Tigé has announced the final installment of monthly winners for the first-of-its-kind MyWake Global Challenge. Using a revolutionary new format that leverages the borderless virtual landscape of the internet, the world’s best wakeboarders, wakeskaters and wakesurfers submitted their very best run online via mywake.tige.com during the May 1 – July 31 contest window. Monthly winners, based on their division, were awarded with cash prizes and an invite to the live two-day final competition in Orlando on Sept. 10-11.

 

Leading a stacked field of entrants in July was 2012 Pro Tour rookie sensation Daniel Powers, who claimed first place in the Pro Men’s Wakeboard division. The win reserves a coveted spot for Powers in the Tigé MyWake Global Challenge live finals, where he will go head-to-head against some of the sport’s biggest names including Harley Clifford and Rusty Malinoski.

 

Top professional videos for the month also came from Raquel Hoffman (Pro Women), Josh Twelker (Junior Pro Men), Dieter Humpsch (Pro Wakeskate) and Taylor McCullough (Pro Women Wakeskate). All four riders will join Powers, as well as the May and June Pro winners in their respective divisions, for an all-out podium battle at September’s live final event.
